Gameloft announces 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' for April launch

Gameloft, which already has popular franchises like Asphalt, Modern Combat and Real Football under its portfolio, has released the first trailer of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 game for Android, iOS and Windows Phone 8 users. The video game is tipped for an April 2014 launch, across platforms.

"After the tremendous success of the first The Amazing Spider-Man mobile game, we're excited to be working with Marvel again to bring the fan-favorite hero back onto smartphones with The Amazing Spider-Man 2," confirmed Karine Kaiser, VP Marketing and Licensing at Gameloft to Comicbook.com.

The new Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game for small screen devices will tie-in with the game's movie version, which is said to hit the theatres in May 2014. In the game one can roam around a more detailed Manhattan city, and can take advantage of the open-world gaming theme, which will let gamers explore more and fight thugs around the city, separately from the main storyline.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game trailer also boasts of enhanced graphics. In the new game, fans will be facing Green Goblin and Electro, two arch-rivals of Spider-Man in the game, along with other iconic villains from the Marvel universe.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2 mobile game delivers a more in-depth gaming experience than its already successful predecessor, which is sure to captivate fans of the theatrical franchise," added Javon Frazier, VP of Games Marketing.

Gameloft, earlier this week, partnered with Idea Cellular to offer gaming content to more than 130 million subscribers of the country's third largest telecom operator. The tie-up will enable Idea subscribers to avail games and other content from the Gameloft Game Store and also through Idea's mobile portal
