Pumpkin Creep: Pumpkin-Flavored Toaster Strudels Hit Shelves In July

For years, we’ve chronicled the terrifying rise of holiday creep, a phenomenon where retailers put holiday-related items out before any rational person would shop for Santa hats or turkey centerpieces. Other retail seasons creep, too, like back-to-school. And pumpkin season.

“There’s no pumpkin season, Consumerist,” you may protest. Of course there is! As packaged food manufacturers make and sell pumpkin spice everything, those harvest-flavored goods have now hit stores ridiculously early. For example: Pillsbury’s Toaster Strudel. In July.

We’re not sure when pumpkin pie season begins, but it’s probably not July.
